Acting on Inspiration, Not Your Age

Why is mental age important for seniors

As we age, it’s easy to focus on our chronological age, the number of years we’ve been alive. But it’s important to remember that there’s another way to think about age – our mental age. Our mental age is the age at which we feel and act. While our chronological age is a fixed number, our mental age can change over time.

For seniors, it’s especially important to focus on our mental age. As we get older, we may face challenges that make it easy to slip into an “old” mindset. We may start to feel like we’re too old to try new things or take on new challenges. We may feel like we’re not as sharp as we used to be, or that we’re not as capable as we once were.

But the truth is, our mental age can be younger than our chronological age. Just because we’ve been alive for a certain number of years doesn’t mean we have to act or feel a certain way. In fact, many seniors find that as they get older, they become more adventurous, more curious, and more willing to take risks.

One of the keys to maintaining a youthful mental age is to stay engaged with the world around us. This can mean staying active, taking classes, trying new hobbies, and staying connected with friends and family. It can also mean staying up-to-date with technology and new trends.

Another important factor is to stay positive and keep a growth mindset. Instead of thinking of ourselves as “old,” we can focus on the opportunities that come with age. We have more time to pursue our passions, to travel, and to spend time with loved ones. We have a wealth of experience and knowledge that we can share with others.

By focusing on our mental age instead of our chronological age, we can live more fulfilling lives and make a positive impact on the world around us. So let’s embrace our inner youth, stay engaged, and never stop learning and growing. Age is just a number – it’s our mindset that really counts.

Speaking on personal experience it is my belief we can be motivated the most by our family and friends that surround us. Remember those days of telling our children not to play or be associated with certain other children ? Perhaps our preconceived notion that they were trouble makers or knowing the child was hanging around with a bad crowd. No matter the reason, it is time to put your actions into what you preached for so many years.

differences between chronological vs mental age

Surrounding yourself with positive energy is important, as humans we tend to feed off of emotions. If someone is motivating you to live an active and fulfilled lifestyle at any age, you are most likely to react in a positive way or at the very least consider it. Now let’s turn the tables and say you are surrounded with people who don’t want to be bothered and urge you to keep your family and friends at a distance. Living a life with discouraging advice and the absence of inspiration and well being to yourself and others can be negative and remove your desire live healthy.

So why is Senior Protection writing an article about the differences between chronological vs mental age ?

As we age our bodies may not heal as quickly as we like and the repercussions of an accidental fall without seeking help in an adequate time can be disastrous.

Choosing the right medical alert device is not as complicated as you think. With simply a few key questions you can be on your way to peace of mind protection.
